Strong sales of industry standard servers helped HP maintain a strong lead in server systems in Europe during the second quarter.
New data from analyst group Forrester Research shows HP leading the server market in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region with a 35% share, followed by IBM with 28%. Sun Microsystems and Dell sat in third and fourth place with 14% and 8% of the pie, respectively. Other vendors include Fujitsu Siemens, Acer, Apple, Intel, Tyan and SuperMicro.
Forrester says that inexpensive x86 systems spurred the bulk of the sector’s growth, and less aggressive pricing helped to sustain margins.
