Effective IT Awards 2006 shortlist announced

18 February 2008

Judging panel picks prospective winners.

The shortlist for the Effective IT Awards 2006, which reward outstanding application of IT in business, has been announced.

An independent panel of judges, consisting of respected IT executives from end-user organisations, has whittled the numerous applicants down to three projects in each of the fourteen categories.

The standard of entries was especially high this year, said Tim Langford, managing director of Infoconomy.

“When we launched the Effective IT Awards back in 2003, we believed it would take three years before they began to be widely recognised, by the user and by the supplier community, as a genuine mark of achievement. The quality of this year’s entries demonstrates we were right in that assessment: a large number of well-known organisations have entered the awards, showcasing projects that have proved truly effective for their businesses."

The final winners of the awards will be announced and presented with their trophies at the Effective IT Summer Spectacular on the 22nd of June 2006. The ceremony will also serve as a fund-raising event for The Wooden Spoon, the Effective IT 2006 Beneficiary Charity. In 2005 funds donated to the charity exceeded £40,000. Effective IT is an annual rolling programme organised by Information Age, the UK's leading magazine for senior executives interested in securing business advantage through the effective application of IT.

Effective IT identifies, publicises and celebrates best practice in IT. It involves suppliers, analysts and journalists, but most importantly, a huge group of senior IT-in-business professionals who work in organisations, public and private, large and small, across the UK. Through a programme of research, live events, web and print publications, Information Age discovers, debates with and rewards those organisations that are using IT to best effect.
