HCM applications market: the gap narrows

23 June 2006

Oracle and SAP are neck-and-neck in their race for the number one spot.

The gap between vendors at the top of the human capital management (HCM) software sector is closing.

Following its acquisition of PeopleSoft at the end of 2004, Oracle now occupies the number one revenue position ahead of SAP, says IT sector analyst, AMR Research. It gives Oracle a 26% share of the market, ahead of SAP’s 23% and Kronos with 10%.

AMR predicts that Oracle’s growth rate will plateau at around 10% in 2006, putting its pace slightly behind that of SAP where growth is estimated at around 13%.
