Hidden cost of fixing IT

10 February 2006

The cost of fixing IT problems is far higher than most people assume.

Assuming the results of a survey by systems integrator WTL are accurate, then the cost of fixing IT problems is far higher than most people assumed. The survey, based on phone interviews with non-IT specific office workers, found that employees spend on average 1 hour 23 minutes each day trying to fix IT issues in the workplace.

"These findings give cause for concern," says WTL managing director Colin Higgins. "We know that people do spend time fixing their computers when they fail but we did not anticipate the overwhelming results our survey has shown. This loss of productivity must be impacting companies' bottom line significantly."
