Forty-five percent of human resources directors fear colleagues in other departments lack the self-discipline to work effectively while away from the office, according to a survey of large companies in the UK, France, Holland and Germany.

"There's an irrational suspicion that if employees are out of the office they're dodging work," says Paul Barker, international solutions director of LogicaCMG, the IT consultancy that conducted the survey.
...65% of senior executives surveyed at the Information Age Empowered Enterprise said that they do not worry if employees are working hard enough or are focused enough when working away from the office.
The explanation: Perhaps the UK executives are more enlightened or better equipped? Or perhaps Information Age readers are more informed and progressive?
