Tibco surfaces for air

10 February 2006

Tibco returns to its slow slide downwards for Q4 after a terrible third quarter.

After a dismal third quarter that was negatively impacted by the disposal of surplus office space and a sizeable drop in licence revenues, enterprise application integration (EAI) software vendor Tibco Software has climbed back into the black. In its fourth quarter, the company recorded profits of $3.4 million, compared to a loss of $45 million in the third quarter and $5.6 million in the year earlier period. However, with EAI price points sitting at around half of their year-ago levels, revenues continued to sink, sliding 10% to $71.3 million quarter-on-quarter.

It is still not clear how much of that decline was down to prospects and customers investigating the rival integration technologies of web services software vendors.
