Across all industries in the UK, around 17% of emails is spam, according to email security company MessageLabs, but another email security supplier, Brightmail, says it is 45%.

. . . 45% of email is junk mail, according to another email security supplier, Brightmail.

The explanation? Either MessageLabs' product is far more effective at filtering junk mail, or executives there consider invitations to purchase Viagra online or pleas for financial help from Nigeria to be of considerable corporate importance. A straw poll of the Information Age office places the incidence of spam at more like 75%.
