ILM strategies are now being fully incorporated as a core part of the business infrastructure.
The implementation of improved information management processes is resulting in increased confidence in businesses’ ability to manage and retrieve data
According to the Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) Survey 2006, conducted among 250 UK and Ireland organisations by market analyst group Quocirca, within the last 12 months companies have moved from the planning and implementation stages to fully incorporating ILM strategies as a core part of the business infrastructure. The survey also shows that understanding of the existing data management environment has increased by about a third.
This surge in confidence of ability – and in meeting with regulatory compliance requirements – has facilitated a 40% decrease in respondents seeing a need to improve their ability to manage data.
Such factors are key in driving management confidence in the business benefits of IT, as is an increase in awareness of security and accessibility issues. The survey also found that there has been a 24% increase in the number of companies with disaster recovery processes in place compared to the research conducted in 2005.
