Yahoo! loses privacy and data centre executives

24 October 2011

As bidders circle, web giant's data centre chief moves to Apple while privacy exec goes to Google+

Beleaguered web giant Yahoo! has lost two long-standing executives, among reports that the company is about to be acquired.

Scott Noteboom was vice president of Yahoo!'s data centre operations and until this month had been with the company since 2005. However, he has now left the company to join Apple, which is currently building one of the world's largest data centres in North Carolina in order to support its iCloud content hosting service.

Meanwhile, Yahoo!'s chief trust officer Anne Toth has left after 13 years with the company to become head of privacy for Google's new social network, Google+.

It has been reported that the troubled company will soon be the subject of acquisition bids from various private equity companies. This weekend, the New York Times reported that rivals Microsoft and Google are 'considering' lending financial support to these firm's bid.

Former CEO Carol Bartz was fired from the position in early September. Bartz was the third CEO at Yahoo! in four years.

Last week, the company reported a 4% decline in revenue to $1.1 billion for the third quarter of its financial year, and a 25% drop in profit to $294.
