Weak demand for its latest image and web production software bundle leads .pdf maker to downgrade revenue projections
Document format and production software maker Adobe has taken steps to reduce its headcount by 600 people – 8% of its total workforce, the company announced yesterday.
The announcement came alongside a warning to investors that revenues for its most recent financial quarter, ending early November 2008, would be less than it had previously predicted and that sales in the current quarter could be down as much as 14% from previous projections.
The company said that weak take-up of Creative Suite 4 (CS4), the latest version of its document creation bundle that includes such popular applications as Photoshop and Dreamweaver, is responsible for the poor performance.
"The global economic crisis significantly impacted our revenue during the fourth quarter," said CEO Shantanu Narayen. "We have taken action to reduce our operating costs and fine-tune the focus of our resources on key strategic priorities."
