Fresh from its sterling financial results yesterday, Autonomy has announced it will acquire web content management firm Interwoven for $775 million
The rising adoption of legal discovery technologies contributed significantly to the 47% revenue growth Autonomy reported in its financial results yesterday, driven by the litigation and regulatory response sparked by the global corporate economic strife.
Interwoven meanwhile has a strong presence in the legal sector with a customer base including 1,200 of the world’s top law firms, suggesting that Autonomy could be interested in switching from a sole focus on high-end search technology to developing a comprehensive information management platform for the sector.
Interwoven’s WCM technology is also used by nine of BusinessWeek's top 10 global brands and 21 of the Forbes Global 30, including Hilton, HSBC and Microsoft, while its acquisition of web optimisation firm Optimost a year ago has taken it into web analytics territory and allowed it to thrive in an otherwise stagnant market.
A statement released by Autonomy said the combination of the two companies “will redefine how global 2000 corporations, leading law firms and government regulators will discover, analyse and manage information and interactions.
