Aviva signs £700m data centre services deal with EDS

Insurer hands responsibility of its Norwich-based data centres over to HP’s services division

Aviva, the UK’s largest insurance provider, has signed a ten-year data centre services deal worth £700 million with EDS, the IT services company acquired by HP last year.

EDS will transform and manage Aviva’s two data centres, both based in Norwich, which support the company’s businesses in the UK, Ireland, France and India.

“Partnering with EDS for data centre services, in our view, supports Aviva’s goals to improve flexibility, increase operational efficiency and lower costs,” said Igal Mayer, UK general insurance chief executive officer at Aviva.

The deal will see 300 Aviva employees join EDS.
