Suppliers will collaborate to support business systems for the Ministry of Justice's various departments in five-year scheme
The UK's Ministry of Justice has awarded contracts to Accenture, Steria and Savvis to support a new shared IT services platform.
The new platform will provide business applications supporting human resources, payroll and procurement operations to all of the Ministry's divisions. These include the courts service, the prison service and the Ministry's head office, and together have around 80,000 users.
IT services provider Accenture will be lead contractor in a five-year, £22 million deal, and will be responisble for the service delivery. Steria will provide application development around Oracle's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Savvis will provide hosting on an "infrastructure-as-a-service" basis. The company says the Ministry of Justice has allocated £14 million over five years to the deal, although the real cost will depend on how much of the service it consumes.
The Ministry of Justice expects to achieve savings of £28 million a year by 2014.
