UK demand for IT workers grew faster than for any other kind of employee in April 2011, study finds
Demand for IT workers is growing at faster rate than for other kinds of employee, according to new research from professional services firm KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
The study, which uses data from recruitment consultants and employers, found that the increase in demand for both permanent and contract IT staff in April 11 was greater than in any other sector.

However, the study does not reveal how high that demand is compared to other sectors, just that it is growing faster.
"It’s clear that, whatever course the economy takes in the coming years, technology is becoming ever more important, and both the private and public sectors continue to need a steady flow of highly-skilled IT professionals," remarked REC technology chair Jeff Brooks.
The REC's assessment includes jobs at IT vendors as well as in-house IT roles. The most in demand IT-related skill, on a permanent basis, is "IT sales", the study found. On a contract basis, CAD designers are in highest demand.
