IT contactors overpaid, says report

14 April 2009

IT directors claim they are overpaying contractors but are locked into expensive and inflexible contracts

Over half of IT directors believe they pay their contract staff too much, according to a survey backed by consultancy firm Morse.
But despite this, they are also struggling to find the contract staff to plug the skills gaps in their workforce, the survey found.

Over 70% of the 200 IT directors surveyed said that they could not find the right people to fill the gaps, despite the fact that they are paying more than they would like to.

Morse said that businesses need to negotiate more flexible engagements with their contractors, so that they can scale up and down their usage according to requirements.
