Vladislav Horohorin arrested on suspicion of trafficking stolen credit card data on “a global scale”

A man described as one of the most wanted cybercriminal on the planet has been arrested in France on suspicion of trafficking stolen credit card details over the Internet.

Vladislav Horohorin, a 27-year-old Ukrainian, is believed to have used a number of nefarious websites to sell the illegally obtained information to buyers all over the world.

He was arrested boarding a flight from Nice to the Russian capital Moscow earlier this week, following a lengthy investigation by the US Secret Service. Horohorin - who operates under the pseudonym ‘BadB’ - was described as “one of [the] five most wanted cyber criminals in the world”.

Horohorin is also believed to be responsible for CarderPlanet, an online forum for the buying and selling of stolen credit card details. That website was closed down by US authorities in 2004.

"His network remains one of the most sophisticated organisations of online financial criminals in the world," commented Secret Service assistant investigations director Michael Merritt. "It has been repeatedly linked to nearly every major intrusion of financial information reported to the international law enforcement community."

Horohorin, who is an Israeli citizen, is now being held in France awaiting extradition for trial in the US.
