LulzSec hacks Arizona police force

24 June 2011

Continuing its campaign againsts banks, governments and big businesses, hacking group hits US police force in retaliation for immigration law

Hacking group Lulz Security has stolen data from the computers of Arizona's Department of Public Safety (DPS), and published 700 police documents on the Internet.

The Department confirmed the data breach with US newspapers late on Thursday evening.

A statement from LulzSec said it carried out the attack in retaliation for a controversial legislative act which contains strict anti-immigration measures, named SB1070, that was passed into law last year by the U.S Senate. "We are targeting AZDPS specifically because we are against SB1070 and the racial profiling anti-immigrant police state that is Arizona," it said.

The hacking group said they plan to release "more classified documents and embarrassing personal details of military and law enforcement" every week.

The attack is the most recent in LulzSec's recent campaign against higher profile government targets which the group calls Anti-Sec.

"Hackers of the world are uniting and taking direct action against our common oppressors – the government, corporations, police, and militaries of the world," the group said.
