Future of Software™ 08

15 April 2008

Future of Software™ is an annual conference run by Information Age. This year's conference took place on April 15th at the Four Seasons Hotel in London, and included a silver-service lunch. Future of Software™ gives IT strategists and managers an exclusive opportunity to hear about the latest software developments, and to test their own ideas and plans against those of their peers and rivals. This conference is by invitation only, but is free to those working in IT management in UK business.

Back to business

Business people often complain that the software they buy is too complicated, too full of features, and requires too much customisation. Too often, they say, it ticks the technical boxes, or rides the latest hype curve, but it doesn’t do enough to improve business performance. Often, it is not resilient enough, or not properly integrated, or not properly supported.
Future of Software™ 2008 conference focused on going ‘Back to Business’: how businesses can buy and build resilient, reliable, but effective software solutions. It was as much an event about business challenges as technology.
The conference covered a number of key areas including:
·        Technology and business trends, identifying new opportunities and challenges on the horizon
·        Implementing software for business IT alignment to drive growth
·        Leveraging innovation in software to drive organisational transformation and growth.
·        Enterprise mash-up technology to enhance the customer experience.
·        SOA: questions, trends, and challenges
·        Service management on demand
·        The platform as a service
This year’s heavily subscribed event had over 130 attendees exploring Back to Business question. All of the presentations are available to watch online – simply click on the Presentations link at the top of the page and follow the links.
