One in ten CIOs believes they are less important than they used to be....
UK CIOs may be comparatively well-paid, but there is a growing sense that the CIO is losing strategic influence at the board level, reports Harvey Nash, a recruitment agency. One in 10 of the 650 UK CIOs and technology professionals surveyed reported feeling that their job had become less strategic.
A majority (61%) reported that their role was becoming more strategically important to their business – however this has dropped by 15% compared to a similar study conducted a year earlier.
One consequence of this lack of engagement appears to be restlessness – nearly 60% of respondents said they were likely to move jobs within the next two years; 28% said they would leave their current role were they to be offered a position with more business responsibility. A further 30% said they were already actively seeking alternative employment.
The numbers of CIOs leaving their jobs within the last year has increased by 15%, reports Harvey Nash.
