Commons committee confronts Brown on poor IT performance
Prime minister Gordon Brown has admitted that the UK government’s IT strategy has “a long way to go”, after a group of Commons committee heads confronted him about its dismal performance.

Brown said that the recent HM Revenue and Customs data breach had demonstrated how important careful and secure management of data was. But, he added, the UK government is not alone in finding these issues difficult to handle.
