Police force uses social networking platform to communicate with community
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have released an application for the popular social networking site Facebook, which it hopes will improve communication with young people in the area.
The application serves both as a bulletin board, with real-time updates of local news and appeals, and a channel through which young people may contact the GMP.
"This application allows GMP to further raise awareness of incidents taking place within our local communities, in a bid to gain more intelligence and bring offenders to justice,” said Rob Taylor, the Assistant Chief Constable at the GMP.
The application has already been installed by 750 users of the site.
