Logica CEO Andy Green to leave after CGI acquisition

Andy Green, the CEO of UK IT services provider Logica, will leave the company following its acquisition by Canadian counterpart CGI, according to the Times.

Green has been CEO of the company since 2008, having previously led BT's Global Services division. He had previously claimed that he would stay with the company after the acquisition.

Also leaving the company, the Time reports, is Gary Bullard, CEO of Logica's UK operations since September 2011. He will be replaced by Tim Gregory, currently head of CGI's European division.

The Logica brand will be retired, although the company's UK division will retain its current organisational structure, the Times claims.

Logica says that it is unable to comment on the report until next week.

UK IT industry analyst firm TechMarketView has also reported that Green will leave Logica, citing contacts within the company.

TechMarketView managing partner Anthony Miller wrote that breaking Logica apart into national divisions was a "good move". "Breaking Logica apart and combining it with the corresponding CGI business units is spot on," he wrote. "We like services companies with geographical [profit and loss units] and accountable managers running them."

"However, this does not mean that the problems that plagued ‘old’ Logica magically disappear," he added. "Indeed we note that many of the Logica ‘old guard’ (some not so old in terms of tenure) will still be running substantial parts of CGI’s empire. My feeling is that CGI will parachute in a squadron of their own senior managers to sit ‘beneath’ the Presidents and ‘lend support’."

Speaking to Information Age in June, Miller said that the acquisition of Logica by CGI is "a sad, sad, indictment of what has been allowed to happen to the UK IT industry. When Logica goes, there won’t be any UK-owned sizeable IT services companies left, and that’s a shame.”
