Mobile workers will make up 73% of the enterprise workforce by 2012, according to a study by Forrester on behalf of remote access software firm LogMeIn. This will bringing with it new support challenges for already stretched IT departments, the research claimed.
Half the organisations surveyed support more than one mobile operating system, while 46% now support personal mobile devices. However, in 60% of cases the support is given manually.
Forrester found that those businesses that had automated mobile device management had experienced increased worker and executive satisfaction with IT (78%), increased productivity of remote workers (72%) and increased overall IT efficiency (67%).
