Information Age Jobs launched to boost tech sector employment

Information Age Jobs is a new online career marketplace that will help bridge the gap between hiring companies and tech talent looking for work.

Powered by Jobbio, the platform also aims to encourage companies with unfilled job vacancies to continue hiring in order to continue succeeding during Covid-19. Its online basis of operation is sure to compliment the shift from in-person to remote communication between employers and candidates.

The launch will advance Information Age’s dedication to covering the latest career moves among senior technology decision makers, starting with the UK and Ireland markets. Vacancies can be searched by title, as well as by the company advertising available jobs.

Recent research shows that nearly 40% of firms in the UK and Europe are freezing most or all tech recruitment, and projects within startups and big tech companies alike have seen halts in progress due to financial uncertainty.

However, demand for IT talent is soaring, with this particular industry area accounting for 35% of vacancies advertised during the lockdown, compared to 15% at most before the pandemic took hold.

In London in particular, the top five roles that are in demand are all technology-related, with software engineering positions coming out on top.

The current average salary for permanent cloud engineers and DevOps engineers is £80,000, while data engineers can expect to earn £60,000 annually.

Cyber security roles, meanwhile, remain as important as ever as difficulties in securing networks and data intensify due to remote working; in this area, engineers earn £80,000 a year on average, while architects can expect to earn £100,000.
