BT flood robs ‘tens of thousands’ of phone, web access

Broadband and telephone services were disrupted across the UK yesterday following a flood at a BT exchange in London.

BT told the BBC that ‘tens of thousands’ of its customers had been affected, mostly in the North West of the capital. Disrupted services included broadband and mobile telephony.

Other communications companies including TalkTalk and Pipex also suffered outages as a result of the flood, which triggered an electrical fire at BT’s Paddington facilities, named “Burne House”.
