Email impatience on the rise

According to a survey by Vodafone, two-thirds of companies expect people to reply to business emails within two hours while one in 10 expect a 30-minute turnaround.

The mobile operator estimates that a lack of mobile email access could be costing businesses £7.3 billion a year in the UK, and reports that 36% of the UK workforce are aware of occasions where the absence of mobile email access has caused stress and conflict in the workplace.

Over a third said not having email access while traveling made for ‘wasted time’, while 17% of respondents reported stress simply because they weren’t online – possibly implying that the pressures of modern business are creating an inability to switch off.
