Here are some of the best paid tech positions in 2021 (in case you’re looking)

We are well into the swing of 2021 at this stage, and many of you may be looking for a change of scene (by scene we mean job). You may have lost your love for what you’re currently doing, or you may be looking to start something brand new and exciting.

We know money isn’t everything when it comes to choosing a job, but it’s important. The mortgage isn’t going to pay for itself at the end of the day, is it? So, before you take the leap, you may be interested to know which tech jobs are the highest paying in the UK as it may sway your decision.

We had a good look through Indeed’s Salary Calculator, and identified some of the highest paying tech jobs in 2021.

Big Data Engineer

Average annual salary in the UK: £57,849

A Big Data Engineer is a person who creates and manages a company’s Big Data infrastructure and tools, and is someone that knows how to get results from vast amounts of data quickly. The actual definition of this role varies, and often mixes with the Data Scientist role.

DevOps Engineer

Average annual salary in the UK: £63,099

DevOps engineers build, test and maintain the infrastructure and tools to allow for the speedy development and release of software. DevOps practices aim to simplify the development process of software. DevOps engineers are instrumental in combining code, application maintenance, and application management. All of these tasks rely on understanding not only development life cycles, but DevOps culture, and its philosophy, practices, and tools.

Cloud Architect

Average annual salary in the UK: £72,612

A Cloud Architect is responsible for converting the technical requirements of a project into the architecture and design that will guide the final product. Often, Cloud Architects are also responsible for bridging the gaps between complex business problems and solutions in the cloud. Other members of a technology team, including DevOps engineers and developers, work with the Cloud Architect to ensure that the right technology or technologies are being built.

Technical Program Manager

Average annual salary in the UK: £69,625

Technical program managers are responsible for overseeing a team of software and hardware professionals within the tech department of a company. They come up with new software programs or updates/maintenance to existing programs that the team needs to complete within a given time frame. They also determine the budget for these projects and ensure teams meet their deadlines.

Data Modeler

Average annual salary in the UK: £78,779

Data Modelers are Systems Analysts who design computer databases that translate complex business data into usable computer systems. Data Modelers work with data architects to design databases that meet organizational needs using conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Chief Technology Officer

Average annual salary in the UK: £85,396

A chief technology officer is an executive position within a corporation. In this role, the officer is in charge of overseeing a company’s resource and development department and its tech department. Their main job duties include researching new technologies and identifying weaknesses within the company that could benefit from new tech.
