Citrix Receiver allows tablets running Android or iOS to access their organisation’s business applications, provided that they have been virtualised using Citrix’s application virtualisation infrastructure first. Receiver itself is a free app. www.citrix.com

Dragon Dictation is Nuance’s voice-to-text software, now available in app form. It allows the user to dictate documents and to paste dictated text into any other app. App store reviews praise its speed and accuracy. LittleRedApp provides a checklist that guides the user through employment issues such as sick pay and unfair dismissal from a legal perspective. Released in June 2011, the app was developed by international law firm Allen & Overy. It is a free download. www.allenovery.com

CamCard allows Android or iOS users to digitise contacts from business cards by taking a photo. Using character recognition, the app slots the contact information from the card into the user’s address book.
