Post Office adopts Salesforce.com, Benioff reveals

The Post Office has selected Salesforce.com to support a system that will allow customers to book meetings with financial advisors online, CEO Mark Benioff revealed today.

"The Post Office in the UK is taking its 400 Crown branches digital by creating a social enterprise for its entire team of financial service advisors," Benioff said on a conference call with financial analysts. "Citizens in the U.K. will soon be able to book appointments and engage with advisors online."

Other customers that signed up in the last quarter include US food distributor Sysco and the the Nippon Life Insurance Company.

Salesforce.com reported a 38% year-on-year sales increase to $695 million, beating analysts’ expectations of $678 million. That means the company is on track to make $3 billion in revenue this year, Benioff said. "I’m sure everyone recognises there aren’t too many enterprise software companies delivering that to the market for this year."

The company made a net loss of $19.5 million during the quarter, compared to a $530,000 profit in the same quarter of last year.
