Sacked IT director sabotaged ex-employer’s website

The former IT director of a US telecommunications equipment vendor has been served with a two year prison sentence for hacking into the company’s website and deleting files.

Darnell Albert-El accessed the server hosting the company’s site and deleted around 1,000 files because he was angry about being fired, a US court heard.

Albert-El was sentenced to 27 months in prison and ordered to pay Trans Marx $6,700 in damages. According to reports, he helped the company recover the files in a bid to receive a more lenient sentence.
