Weetabix turns to e-sourcing to enhance supplier network

Weetabix has turned to e-sourcing to better manage suppliers and reduce costs as it moves to implement a full source-to-pay procurement model.

The cereal producer has selected Wax Digital web3 e-sourcing to ramp up its programme of tenders and electronic auctions, improving the way in which it identifies, qualifies and negotiates with its supplier network.

For many organisations, electronic sourcing remains the sole preserve of the central procurement team. Weetabix is hoping to devolve the use of sourcing to other users within the business, according to its head of procurement, Anthony Bowdidge.

“The highly intuitive nature of the web3 tool makes it simple to roll out to people in the business that are not professional purchasers,” Bowdidge said.

“As a result, they can exploit the efficiency gains and cost savings that a sourcing and negotiation tool drives, taking some of the pressure off the procurement team, whilst we can be sure that results are captured and process is followed.”

Weetabix chose Wax Digital following a review against its incumbent Ariba platform.

The decision means Weetabix, which is already a Wax Digital customer for web3 Purchase-to-Pay, now has a single source-to-pay process.

“We would have purchased web3 e-sourcing as an excellent standalone tool for the business, but when combined with the Wax Digital P2P solution we can now take advantage of a fully integrated approach right through the purchasing lifecycle,” Bowdidge said.
