Advanced appoints Simon Walsh as new CEO

UK software and services vendor Advanced has turned to former NTT Americas CEO Simon Walsh to take the lead of all operations

Walsh joins Advanced following a near three-year tenure as CEO of technology and business solutions provider NTT Americas, and will look to lead the company’s mission of long-term sustainable growth in the business software space.

Prior to overseeing Americas region operations at NTT, Walsh held CEO and COO positions for technology companies such as digital transformation vendor Atos, cloud management firm Virtustream, and then Dell EMC following a merger.

The digital transformation leadership experience that Walsh will bring to Advanced is set to be key to helping customers consistently innovate in an increasingly digital business world.

“It is an honour to succeed Gordon as CEO of Advanced. The Advanced story is a truly great depiction of an innovative British software company with great ambition for the future,” said new Advanced CEO, Walsh.

“I am excited and inspired by the talented individuals I will have the opportunity to work with and whose vision is to be the difference to their customers, providing quality products and services with a customer experience others can only aspire to.”

Monti Saroya, senior managing director and co-head of the Flagship Fund at parent company Vista Equity Partners, commented: “Enterprise software remains the most powerful tool for businesses in taking on the mission-critical challenges facing both commercial and public sectors.

“Under Gordon’s leadership, Advanced has transformed its software and services business, well positioning the company to take advantage of the great opportunity ahead of it.

“We are excited to welcome Simon and look forward to partnering with both him and Gordon on this next phase of Advanced’s journey.”

Meanwhile, former Advanced CEO Gordon Wilson will take on the position of chairman of the board, after seven years at the helm.

Wilson commented on the executive appointment: “I am confident that Simon will further accelerate Advanced’s opportunity for growth. He has a successful track record of scaling technology businesses which will be invaluable to Advanced as we continue to expand our solution offerings and market traction.

“He is passionate about Advanced’s mission and our people and importantly how these can really make a difference to our customers.”

Advanced, founded in 1983 and acquired by Vista Equity Partners in 2015, caters for businesses across sectors including education, finance, healthcare, HR and legal.
