Airband appoints former Gigaclear executive Charl Tintinger as CTO

In his role as CTO at Airband, Tintinger will focus on rapidly scaling the company’s network capabilities in line with its growth trajectory, following the confirmation of multiple multi-million pound contracts, and significant investment from Aberdeen Standard Investments.

As well as leading the team to build high-capacity Fibre-to-the-Premise (FTTP) broadband networks around the UK, Tintinger’s priority will be serving the company’s rurally based customers with connectivity.

Prior to joining Airband, Tintinger spent four years at Gigaclear, serving as technical director, data protection officer and head of security in place of the previous CTO before officially taking on the CTO position in name in 2019.

With almost 20 years’ experience in Internet service, the new Airband appointment has also held senior positions at giffgaff, Lebara Mobile and Vodafone.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Airband team,” said new Airband CTO, Tintinger.

“It is an fast-growing organisation that is driving real change and having a big impact on people’s lives, and that is a purpose that resonates deeply with me.

“With our shared values, Airband feels like a natural fit for me, and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Redmond Peel, founder and managing director of Airband, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming Charl to the team.

“He joins us at an incredibly exciting time, and his experience and expertise will be critical in helping to guide us forward as we continue to grow. I’ve no doubt he will be an asset to the team.”
