2020 Cost of Insider Threats Global Report

Ponemon Institue is pleased to present the findings of the 2020 Cost of Insider Threats Global Report study. Sponsored by ObserveIT and IBM, this is the third benchmark study conducted to understand the direct and indirect costs that result from insider threats.

The first study was conducted in 2016 and focused exclusively on companies in the United States. Represented in this study are companies located in North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

 

In the context of this research, insider threats are defined as:

  • A careless or negligent employee or contractor
  • A criminal or malicious insider or
  • A credential thief
