Sage, the cloud business management solutions company, has appointed Aaron Harris as chief technology officer (CTO) with immediate effect.
Harris will report to the chief executive officer, Steve Hare, as part of his executive committee.
Previously, Harris was senior vice president, head of engineering and technology at Sage Intacct, which was acquired by Sage in 2017. His new role will expand his responsibilities to develop the technology strategy across Sage Business Cloud.
One of the founding leaders of Sage Intacct, Harris has led the company’s product vision and technology direction throughout the growth of the company, establishing Sage Intacct as the innovation leader in cloud financial management solutions.
He regularly contributes to the development of best practices for cloud computing, Software as a Service (SaaS) and accounting and finance technology standards.
Aaron Harris, chief technology officer at Sage, said: “I’m very honoured to be asked to become the CTO at Sage, as we accelerate our drive to become a great SaaS company. Since joining Sage in 2017 through the acquisition, I have become increasingly involved in helping shape the technology agenda and I am delighted that I am now joining the Executive Committee and will play an even greater part in creating the future for Sage and our customers.”
Every CTO needs to have a holistic vision for their business
At Sage, Harris will continue to lead innovation across Sage Business Cloud, leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to improve user experience, drive business efficiency, build migration pathways, and improve connectivity of its ecosystem.
Steve Hare, Chief Executive Officer at Sage, said: “Aaron has proven experience of building a great SaaS company, and will bring that experience to our innovation agenda at Sage, ultimately helping us make our customers more successful. It has been fantastic to work closely with Aaron in his role at Sage Intacct, and I am pleased to bolster the technology experience on the Executive Committee with his appointment.”
Leadership shake-up at Sage
Klaus-Michael Vogelberg, who has previously held the CTO role, will remain on the executive committee and continue to shape the technology agenda for Sage with Harris, in the role of chief architect and technology advisor.
Lee Perkins who previously ran Sage’s UK business, and more recently led the global product organisation, has been made chief product officer and a member of the executive committee. He will work closely with Harris, leading the global product strategy.
