SUSE announces Matt Eckersall as new Regional Director

As SUSE’s new lead for the EMEA West region, Matt Eckersall will be tasked with further building on the company’s growth and will be responsible for all sales and go-to-market strategies across the region.

The role involves continuing to drive SUSE’s momentum in its Linux solutions business, while accelerating the growth of its expanding portfolio of software defined infrastructure (SDI) solutions. He will be expected to build momentum with open source innovation and focus on developing relationships with partners.

SUSE’s SDI include Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry based offerings in addition to its storage capability — all of which enable customers to transform their businesses to capitalise on the digital economy, according to the announcement.

Prior roles

Prior to joining SUSE, Eckersall spent 20 years leading a number of high growth business units at Microsoft and Oracle. Key management positions included Sales Director of Microsoft’s cloud hosting and service provider business and senior leadership roles for Oracle Cloud Services in EMEA.

Eckersall will be part of SUSE’s global Senior Leadership Team reporting to EMEA VP & GM Ton Musters. He will be based in Bracknell, UK.
