Visa commissions bespoke London data centre

Payments processing giant Visa Europe has hired data centre development company Digital Realty Trust to build a new 10,000 square foot facility "close to London".

The data centre, being built to Visa’s bespoke requirement, is due for completion by the third quarter of 2011. Digital Realty Trust says it has guaranteed project the timeframe and the budget of the project.

"This level of commitment is critical to minimise our risks and optimise our operations," said Steve Chamber, Visa Europe’s CIO in statement. "We rely on state of the art data centre facilities which provide the foundation for our business."

Digital Realty Trust said Visa is second financial services organisation to sign a major contract in recent times, indicating a return to data centre investment for the industry.
